The ALS Environmental Division is one of the largest, most geographically diverse environmental testing groups in the world. With over 40 laboratories strategically located throughout Asia, Australia, Europe, North America and South America, ALS is optimally placed to provide clients with analytical and technical support for local and international projects.

Electronics Services
The Electronics Services section provides extensive testing services for the manufacture and maintenance of computer hard disk drives, and the determination of undesirable microcontaminants.
Using certified services, ALS tests for a wide range of micro-contaminants that can lead to the failure of computers and electronic equipment. Hard disk drives and their components are analyzed for anions and cations, volatile and non-volatile residues, silicones, amides, hydrocarbons and extractable metals.
In line with increasing regulations restricting or eliminating the use of certain hazardous substances within the electrical, electronic and consumer equipment industry, the ALS Electronics and Consumer Services section offers an industry compliant "green test" service to determine if any banned or restricted substances are present. The Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) tests identify the presence and concentration of cadmium, lead, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls and polybrominated diphenylethers.
ALS also offers manufacturers of electronic components a monitoring service which analyzes clean-room air for traces of volatile organics, air borne particles and bacteria. The services provided by ALS are certified by recognized major disk drive and electronics manufacturers and are in accordance with IDEMA & IPC standards.
Scope of services:
- Residue analysis of anions, cations, oil, metals and dirt particles for product quality assurance programs run by disk drive component vendors.
- Ultra pure water analysis with ICP-MS.
- RoHS determinations on electronic components and electrical appliances.
