Shipping Tips
All Consignments
- Samples should be packed in cooler boxes, standing upright, with sufficient foam packaging to limit movement and potential breakage during transit.
- Ensure that all lids on containers have been tightened.
- Include a copy of your Chain of Custody paperwork.
Consignments Freighted Locally
- Place the ALS address sticker prominently on the top of each item within the consignment.
- Place the ‘fragile’ sticker and ‘keep chilled’ sticker (supplied) prominently on each consignment piece.
- Send the consignment and accompanying documentation through a reputable courier service company.

ALS Hong Kong has a permit issued by the Hong Kong Agriculture, Fisheries & Conservation Department for importing soil samples (maximum 30 kg per shipping consignment) for laboratory analysis (only required for soil samples). Copies of the required documentation will be provided with the pre-ordered sample bottles.
The following additional documents will be required for customs and importing, appended to the outside of each item within the consignment;
1. Customs declaration (proforma invoice) on your letterhead, stating that the samples have a nominal declared value for customs purpose of HKD 100. It should also state that the samples are being shipped to Hong Kong for analytical testing.
2. A copy of the ALS Hong Kong import permit (only required for soil samples).
3. Sample declaration letter on your letterhead, stating that the samples are non-hazardous and non-dangerous.
NOTE: A copy of the consignment note (airway bill), and customs declaration should be e-mailed to the laboratory (hongkong@alsglobal.com).

A strong commitment to technical leadership is available through an experienced and highly skilled staff group (in excess of 550 staff in the region), state-of-the-art facilities and the latest instrumentation. Instrumentation includes; GF-AAS, ICPOES, ICPMS, GCFID, GCMS, GCECD, HPLC, LCMSMS, discrete analysers, automated titration equipment, SEM-EDX and FTIR.

Established in 1995 and located in Kwai Chung on the western side of Kowloon, the Hong Kong laboratory offers a diverse range of HOKLAS accredited analyses to the environmental and food industries. The environmental laboratory's standard services for sediment, water, soil and air matrices, include; metals analyses, inorganic analyses, organic analyses, microbiological analyses and ecotoxicology analyses. A number of specialist services including ultratratrace organic analyses and leachate testing are also available.
The food laboratory also offers a diverse range of analytical services including; microbiological analyses, nutritional labelling, pesticide residue analyses, preservatives and sweeteners testing, heavy metals analyses and vitamin content testing. These analytical offerings are complemented with project management services and a thorough understanding of the Hong Kong market and regulations.
ALS Hong Kong has a motivated workforce using the latest analytical instrumentation to deliver the best outcomes for the client. For enquiries the standard office hours are between 9am and 5:30pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 1pm on Saturdays.
