LoginMany areas around known orebodies have been well explored with both traditional and emerging exploration technologies. However, there is a significant decline in exploration success over recent years. The ALS Geoanalytics team is driven by discovery and fuelled by data; we use both conventional and AI techniques to extract the most value from existing datasets, with the goal of tightening the timeline between discovery and development.
We believe that good data science must critically be underpinned with good geological understanding. Our team of geoscientists, with expertise in geochemistry, geophysics, and structural geology, routinely perform conventional interpretations to guide discovery and answer geological questions with a rocks first approach.
Geophysics data layers are 2D or 3D representations of subsurface information obtained through geophysical surveys. These data layers provide a visual representation of subsurface features, such as geological structures, mineral deposits, and fluid reservoirs, and are used to support a range of geoscience applications, including mineral exploration, resource evaluation, environmental studies, and groundwater management. Geophysics data layers can be created from various geophysical methods, including gravity, magnetic, electromagnetic, seismic, and radiometric surveys. The resulting data layers can be used to identify geological structures, assess the presence of mineral deposits, and make predictions about subsurface conditions that are difficult to observe directly.
LEARN MOREGeochemical and hyperspectral data are valuable tools for mineral deposit exploration because they provide information about the presence, distribution, and composition of minerals in the earth's subsurface. Geochemical data, obtained through various analytical techniques such as X-ray fluorescence (XRF) and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS), can identify specific elements and minerals in rock samples, and provide information about the abundance of these minerals. This information can be used to identify potential mineral deposit areas, and also to assess the quality and quantity of mineral resources in these areas. Hyperspectral data, obtained through the use of hyperspectral imaging technology, can provide mineralogical information about rock samples by measuring the reflectance and absorption of light at different wavelengths. This information can be used to identify specific minerals and mineral associations, determine the distribution and abundance of minerals, and make predictions about the potential for mineral deposits in the area being explored.
We offer a range of valuable expertise for exploration and mining projects and can guide next steps in exploration by integrating and interpreting data to make informed decisions and move projects forward. When it isn’t clear what ensemble of data to collect, we are here to help.
