The ALS Quality Management System (QMS) covers all laboratory activities and takes into consideration the requirements of ISO standards.
The QMS operates under global and regional Quality Control (QC) teams responsible for the execution and monitoring of the Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control programs in each department, on a regular basis. Audited both internally and by outside parties, these programs include, but are not limited to, proficiency testing of a variety of parameters, ensuring that all key methods have standard operating procedures (SOPs) that are in place and being followed properly, and ensuring that quality control standards are producing consistent results.
Perhaps the most important aspect of the QMS is the process of external auditing by recognised organisations and the maintaining of ISO registrations and accreditations. ISO registration and accreditation provides independent verification for our clients that a QMS is in operation at the location in question. Most ALS Geochemistry laboratories are registered or are pending registration to ISO 9001:2008, and a number of analytical facilities have received ISO 17025 accreditations for specific laboratory procedures.
The Open Lab Initiative
The Open Lab™ Initiative allows real-time tracking of the progress of samples through our laboratories enabling complete confidence in the accuracy of data produced. This portal view is provided via Webtrieve™, an online interface to laboratory data. In addition to the ability to view results and certificates of analysis, Webtrieve™ allows access to complete audit trails, important QC data and control charts.
