Non Intrusive Inspection (NII) with ALS can be implemented to keep you plant on line whilst the condition of the equipment is assessed. This typically means significant savings without risking asset integrity.
Non Intrusive Inspection (NII) refers to inspecting assets, such as pressure vessels, tanks or other equipment with minimal or no interruption to their operation, i.e.
- Without having to take the equipment off line,
- Without have to provide internal entry to inspect internal surfaces.
Benefits
The practical benefits of NII are significant. When implemented successfully, ALS’ clients can expect:
- Cost savings through the removal of need clean and purge internal products from items such as vessel, tanks.
- Cost savings and safety improvements through the removal of having to complete confined space entries into vessels to inspect internal surfaces.
- Greater availability of asset for production through not having to take them off line to complete inspections.
- Where completed prior to a shutdown, the duration of the shut itself can be reduced through the condition assessment that NII provides.
- Taking advantage of NII still allows compliance with applicable inspection standards, such as AS 3788.
ALS has substantial experience and capability in the design of NII solutions for inspecting assets. We have implemented these services for our largest clients and major hazard facility owners.
Our NII services
ALS provides the following services in support of pursuing and delivering the benefits of NII. Using industry best practice philosophies and methodology.
- Integrity engineering and inspection advice to assess how NII can be effectively implemented for your critical plant and equipment, based on expected failure mechanisms, codes requirements and risk assessments.
- Substantial capability in both traditional and advanced non-destructive testing techniques such as ultrasonics (UT), phased array ultrasonics (PAUT), radiography (RT) and other methods which are essential for successful NII programs.
- Experience in working with engineering and management stakeholders to explain the benefits of NII, address any concerns with regard to making the transition and effective implementation and review of the outcomes once implemented.
