ALS Environmental Australia is fully compliant with the new Global Harmonisation System (GHS) which has taken effect as of the 1st of January 2017.
What is the GHS?
The GHS is a system used to classify and communicate chemical hazards using internationally consistent terms and information on chemical labels and Safety Data Sheets. Detailed information can be found on the Safe Work Australia website:
You may have noticed a change to some of our sample bottle labels. ALS have revised our labels to meet the new requirements of the GHS for the classification and labelling of chemicals. Sample bottles provided to clients with chemical preservatives are now labelled in accordance with the new laws.
Does it affect me?
No. The preservatives in the sample containers have not changed. Nonetheless the labelling must account for all eventualities and consequently the labels will contain additional information of the hazards and safety requirements associated with exposure.
Can I get more information?
Yes. For further information please contact your local ALS laboratory or refer to Safety data sheets (SDS’s) which are available in our 'Downloads' library.
