ALS Vientiane is now accredited by the Standards Council of Canada (SCC Accredited Laboratory No. 871) for the determination of Gold by Fire Assay with AAS Finish under the ISO/IEC 17025:2005 international standard.

ALS is pleased to announce that the geochemistry laboratory in Vientiane Lao PDR has successfully completed the accreditation process and complies with all requirements of the ISO/IEC 17025:2005 General Requirements for the Competence of Testing and Calibration Laboratories standard. This is the highest accreditation standard available to geochemistry laboratories and demonstrates the laboratory’s technical competence and ongoing commitment by ALS to quality and data integrity.
In addition to the already rigorous internal QA/QC, auditing and monitoring programs in place at all ALS laboratories, surveillance audits of the laboratory will be conducted by the SCC; and the laboratory must participate successfully in an associated proficiency test. These assessments check all aspects of the operation with specific attention paid to the technical aspects of sample preparation and analysis to ensure the laboratory consistently produces accurate and dependable data, as well as maintaining the quality management system.
The Vientiane operation was originally established as a sample preparation facility in 1995 to service the needs of a growing number of local exploration and mining companies. The facility was later expanded and upgraded to an analytical laboratory with the inclusion of local fire assay and leaching processes for gold.
Attaining ISO/IEC 17025:2005 accreditation is in keeping with the ALS philosophy of continuous improvement for the benefit of clients.
