Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAH) occurs naturally in the environment but can also be a product of human activity in particular fires and incineration.
Exposures to PAH in high concentration is known to cause negative health effects.
PAHs in air are sampled using solid sorbent media such as XAD2 or PUF followed by GC-MS analysis.
There are different analytical methods available including NIOSH 5528, NIOSH 5512 and 8270E with or without enhancements via SIM (Selection Ion Monitoring) and/or isotope dilution techniques.
Much more extensive target lists are available upon request.
PCB is a man-made chemical that is considered a Persistant Organic Pollutant and is unwanted in the environment due to negative effect on health and the environment in general.
