In today’s market in-service lubricant analysis services for end-users with mid to large inventories of equipment has been evolving its focus less on reporting data on an individual piece of equipment and more on fleet-wide and plant-wide health and reliability.
In-service lubricant testing practices have evolved to provide more value to the same data that has historically been reported. A dynamic oil analysis program should focus on creating goals for optimizing fleet-wide or plant-wide lubrication and equipment reliability management practices, monitoring changes in lubrication practices, and provide a quick and easy evaluation of overall asset health.
Reporting that provides a high level overview of asset health and lubrication performance allows for more effective management of asset reliability practices. Instead of always looking at an individual test report for an individual piece of equipment, effective management reports allows for the big picture that can steer an oils analysis program to its best benefits. This can include:
- How does one area of operation compare to another in regards to uptime and equipment health?
- Am I using a targeted drain internal that optimizes equipment health overall?
- Where can I use my lubrication practices more effectively?
- Is my testing in line with goals established for fleet-wide or plant-wide health?
