Read what Auditors and Clients have to say about ALS Compass...
I have reviewed the features and functionality of ALS Compass against the relevant elements of NEPM/AS4482.1 and believe the application will not only allow concurrence with NEPM but should also reduce the elements of error (or the opportunity to create errors) in the process.
The system is not only robust, but simple and uses readily available technology, which is easily reproducible and trackable and hence can stand-up to the process of rigorous auditing.
The sooner such a system as this is implemented, the easier it will become for both consultants and subsequently auditors/regulators to have added confidence in the sample recording and handling process and associated QA/QC.

The contaminated land industry has collected and processed soil and water samples in much the same way for over 30 years. The ALS Compass service appears to be an innovative approach to streamlining the collection and handling process from the consultants side as well as the laboratory side. I particularly liked the ability for the field scientist to add water chemistry details, to photograph the sample, to add new analysis based on field observations and to tag the approximate GPS location for sampling points.

Used the app today - loved it.

We were very lucky to have ALS visit us for a personal ALS Compass app overview. Even luckier when they bought cupcakes and presents! The meeting was both informative and fun. You can’t help but be excited about the app's features.
When we first heard about ALS Compass, we were thrilled by the fact that we would no longer have to label bottles. Can you imagine our reactions when we went on to learn the added benefits? There is less risk of human error in the field now, with the built-in bottle scanner and bottle checklist.
Its many features will save us so much time, from the quoting and labelling, right through to the automatically generated Chain of Custody. We can’t wait to start using the app and benefit from the efficiency it will bring to Burdekin Shire Council.

A key objective of both state and national guidelines is to ensure contamination assessment and remediation works consistently meet appropriate standards. The ALS Compass app is closely aligned with this objective and has in-built QC functionality to reduce or eliminate errors in data management and handling from the project planning phase through to field execution and reporting of results.
Accurate development and completion of chain of custody documentation is a fundamental part of robust field QAQC execution. The Compass App enables automatic creation of the COC form but maintains sufficient flexibility to enable changes to be made in response to any required changes to the as-built SAQP to meet the Data Quality Objectives (DQOs)

As an Auditor, I rely on the quality of the field and laboratory data in order to form an opinion on a site, so data integrity is critical. ALS Compass looks like a tool that will improve the quality of field records and reduce the potential for mistakes in sample handling. Congratulations ALS on pushing field sampling into the digital realm.

The Environmental Earth Sciences team and I are excited about the efficiencies ALS’ new Compass app will generate for our regulatory groundwater monitoring programs.

I love the bottle checklist, it has prevented me from missing a sample container on two occasions now. The ability to take field data, photos and additional information is fantastic and has completely replaced paper datasheets. I would rate it a 10/10.
