Philippe Legrand has just been appointed Fiber Optics and Engineering Manager for Omega Well Monitoring. Based in Houston, this role is pivotal to Omega’s ambition to substantially grow its Fiber Optics offering. The announcement comes shortly after the acquisition of US-based firm, BMP Enterprises LLC (BMP), who specialise in downhole and pipeline Fiber Optic monitoring.
Philippe has an impressive background in the industry. Following his Master’s degree in Engineering Management at NTU (remote branch of Colorado State), Philippe held a variety of roles, starting with subsea specialists, but soon moving into Fiber Optics. Philippe has spent the last 6 years working in Baker Hughes Inc., starting as Product Line Manager for Fiber Optics. In 2011, Philippe became the Customer Relationship Manager for Monitoring Systems in the Gulf of Mexico, defining completions and flow solutions for deep offshore GoM fields and driving technology strategy for monitoring systems.
The combination of US market understanding and technology focus were a strong factor in Philippe’s appointment, as Brian Phillips, VP Americas explains. “Fiber Optic monitoring is focus for Omega and we want to push the existing, ALS Omega Well Monitoring/ BMP, product line further. We’re looking at new product development and geographical expansion and wanted to bring on someone with proven results to help us deliver this. Philippe is a great appointment and we’re delighted to have him on board.”
