Sending samples to ALS in Sweden

The sample

Please mark the samples with suitable labels or in waterproof writing with a marker pen. Suitable sample containers, labels, and order forms can be ordered from the laboratory. We provide sample containers for samples submitted for analysis (some sample containers are provided free of charge). There are also instructions for sample handling for different analyses, which can be downloaded as pdf files.

The order form

Samples should always be accompanied by a fully filled out order form. For correct and rapid handling at the laboratory, please fill out:

• Sample ID(s)
• Requested analyses
• Quotation number, if applicable (for corrrect invoicing)
• Other important information or instructions, such as "Filter before acidification", "probably high in Hg", etc.
• If the sample is a collect sample.

Sending the samples

Samples and order form can be sent in parcels or letters or by other means as appropriate. Please Note: Make sure that the samples will arrive as soon as desired by the means of transport used.

Sending samples from outside EU

For shipments of samples from non-EU countries to Sweden it’s important to inform the courier and prepare your customs document before sending the samples. For more information about shipments and customs clearance look at the links below.

Permits for import of specific samples from Non-EU countries

For some types of sample the customs require an import permit. ALS Scandinavia in Luleå has three import permits; one for sediments and soils, another one for animal by-products for research/diagnostic purposes and a third for pharmaceuticals. Our recommendation is to add those permits for those kind of samples with the shipment and outside the parcel.
