The belief in our abilities to develop new Mine Control Laboratories (MCL’s) helped ALS Minerals Spain to win the Strategic Minerals Spain tender in November 2016 for their Penouta mine in Galicia, northern Spain.

The belief in our abilities to develop new Mine Control Laboratories (MCL’s) helped ALS Minerals Spain to win the Strategic Minerals Spain tender in November 2016 for their Penouta mine in Galicia, northern Spain. The metallurgical process will include gravity circuits and magnetic separation to process the casiterite (Sn) and Ta-Nb oxide ores. For the first two or three years the metallurgical plant will treat existing tailings before mining re-starts in the open pit mine again.

Production, and consequently lab activity, will start in the northern spring. The resistive ores of this mine will be fused and analysed by XRF though the ME-XRF15b method. Tailings of the process will be processed using the pellet pressed-XRF method. We hope and plan to be celebrating the success of this MCL by the summer time!
