EU - Amendment of EN71-3
In August 2017, the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) published the amendment of the new toy safety standard for migration of certain elements - EN 71-3:2013+A2:2017 to supersede EN 71-3:2013+A1:2014.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by February 2018, and conflicting national standards shall be withdrawn at the latest by February 2018.
Significant technical changes between EN 71-3:2013+A1:2014 and EN 71-3:2013:+A2:2017:
|G.3.24 Acetate buffer solution||Buffer solution pH of 5.4 was changed to 4.5|
|G.5.2 Calibration standards||A note indicating that it is important to adapt the calibration solutions for the requirements of Category I and II accordingly has been added|
|G.6.1 General||Also allow to use MRM for organotin analysis. Multiple Reaction Monitoring (MRM) mode (including the new Table G.4 and Figure G.1) has been added as alternative mode for the analysis.|
|H.10 Organic tin - Paragraph 4-7||Add the paragraph 4-7 of H.10: the rationale on organic tin has been revised. In particular information on possible false positive results has been added.|
EU - Public consultation of nine new SVHCs
In September, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) launched a public consultation on proposals to identify nine new substances of very high concern (SVHCs).
The deadline for comments is 20 October 2017.
The substances and examples of their uses are:
