Herbal and Traditional Medicine Testing

Herbal and traditional medicine testing plays a critical role in evaluating product safety, quality, and compliance with applicable herbal pharmacopoeias and regulatory requirements. ALS Thailand provides laboratory testing services to support quality control of raw materials and finished products, ensuring consumer safety and conformity with established standards.

Our herbal testing services are structured into three main categories:

Chemical Analysis

Evaluation of chemical composition and relevant quality parameters associated with product safety and compliance. Testing supports identity verification, quality consistency, and compliance with applicable herbal pharmacopoeias and regulatory specifications.

Microbiological Analysis

Comprehensive microbiological testing covering both non-specific and specific microorganisms, including:

  • Total Aerobic Microbial Count (TAMC)
  • Total Yeast and Mold Count (TYMC)
  • Bile Tolerant Gram-Negative Bacteria
  • Escherichia coli
  • Pseudomonas aeruginosa
  • Staphylococcus aureus
  • Salmonella spp.
  • Clostridium spp.
  • Candida albicans

Testing is performed in accordance with recognised pharmacopoeial references such as the British Pharmacopoeia (BP) 2021 Appendix XVI B and F and other applicable standards.

Elemental and Heavy Metals Analysis

Determination of toxic elements and heavy metals in herbal products, including:

  • Arsenic
  • Cadmium
  • Chromium
  • Lead
  • Mercury
  • Other relevant elements

Testing is conducted in accordance with the Thai Herbal Pharmacopoeia 2021 and applicable standard methods such as US EPA Method 7473 for Mercury, ensuring reliable and regulatory-compliant results.

All analyses are performed in accordance with relevant pharmacopoeias and international standards to provide accurate, defensible data suitable for quality control, product registration, and regulatory compliance of herbal and traditional medicinal products.
