WAC Analysis verifies that waste materials comply with the chemical and physical limits required by waste recovery and disposal facilities. These criteria are set to protect human health and the environment and are often required before waste can be accepted at a permitted site.
Our WAC testing assesses the leaching behaviour of waste materials, determining whether contaminants exceed threshold values that would prohibit recovery or disposal under the Waste Acceptance Criteria framework.
WHY TEST FOR WAC (WASTE ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA)?
HOW WAC TESTING WORKS
Plan – We confirm your waste type, proposed destination facility and any site-specific acceptance requirements, then define the most suitable analytical suite.
Sample – Representative sampling is essential. ALS can provide guidance on best practice sampling approaches and support with field sampling where required.
Analyse – Samples are tested using recognised WAC methodologies with robust laboratory QA/QC to produce reliable, defensible data.
Report – You receive a clear report presenting results against relevant WAC limits, highlighting any exceedances and providing supporting laboratory details and traceability.
WHAT YOU RECEIVE
WASTE TYPES AND COMMON APPLICATIONS
LEACHATE REQUIREMENTS AND MONOLITHIC TANK OPTIONS
Acceptance criteria can vary by facility and waste stream. For WAC testing and other leachate-related requirements, please speak to our Land team, who can advise on the correct approach for your project and destination facility.
If you are considering containment solutions such as monolithic tanks, please contact our Coventry team to discuss available options and testing support.
ACCREDITATION AND QUALITY
WAC analysis is performed in accordance with recognised laboratory methodologies and supported by robust quality assurance and quality control, including appropriate checks to ensure reliable and defensible data.
SAMPLING SUPPORT
If you require help collecting representative samples, ALS can provide guidance and connect you with experienced field staff. For soil and waste sampling support, please refer to our contaminated land sampling services.
GET STARTED
To begin a WAC project, provide the site location, material description, approximate volumes and proposed destination facility (where known). ALS will confirm the most appropriate test suite, sampling approach and quotation.
Samples can be submitted directly, or sampling support can be arranged where required.
