Heavy Metal Testing

We offer a standard five metals test for Lead, Cadmium, Arsenic, Mercury, and Antimony, which is designed to meet requirements of both USA and Canada. ISO 17025 

ALS has two USA based labs, both holding ISO 17025 for metals testing. This is a unique benefit of ALS for clients looking to meet Amazon’s requirement perform heavy metal testing with two separate ISO 17025 certified laboratories.

1,4 Dioxane

Both California and New York have instituted new limits for 1,4 Dioxane in personal care products. Our method can meet these limits to make sure your products are in compliance.

Scheduled 1,4 Dioxane panels 

In order to reduce material waste, be more environmentally friendly, and reduce cost to clients ALS has monthly 1,4 Dioxane testing runs. Clients with samples in hand by the first Friday of the month will be included in the panel test. 

Formaldehyde

ALS offers two methods for formaldehyde testing, the JP method for clients exporting products to Japan and our in house method for formaldehyde by HPLC. Testing is fast and simple for both, and ALS offers volume discounts for clients with multiple samples.

Benzene Testing 

Recently, benzene has been reported in higher than acceptable levels in many common personal care products. ALS offers low-level benzene detection of 0.5 ppm by GC-MS to ensure our clients are protected from similar issues.

GC-FID may not be sufficient

ALS and other analytical labs are offering low price benzene testing utilizing GC-FID. This method does not have as low of a detection limit as was used for testing of the products reported in the news. For companies looking to protect their brand make sure your lab is using GC-MS.

Methanol

ALS can perform the FDA required method and assist clients in making sure their hand sanitizers are methanol free. Per FDA requirements, companies must test their raw material ethanol for methanol.
