Care must be taken to ensure samplers are not wearing clothing containing PFAS. Bottles must be HDPE or PP depending on the method requested, with no Teflon™ lined lid. Avoid Teflon containing materials for sampling (e.g. tubing, bailers) and use HDPE or silicon. For further information please contact your local ALS Client Services Team.
In the US the EPA has issued “Drinking Water Health Advisories for PFOA and PFOS” at 70 parts per trillion (ppt or µg/l). When both PFOA and PFOS are found in drinking water, the combined concentrations of PFOA and PFOS should be compared with the 70 parts per trillion health advisory level. Other countries like Canada has issued proposed guidelines (Screening values) and regulation for contaminated sites related to PFAS.
