Infrared (IR) spectroscopy is an analytical technique that is widely used in material analysis. Molecular vibrations in covalent bonds or functional groups are observed due to absorption of IR radiation at specific frequencies.
Infrared (IR) spectroscopy is an analytical technique that is widely used in material analysis. Molecular vibrations in covalent bonds or functional groups are observed due to absorption of IR radiation at specific frequencies.
An FTIR spectrometer rapidly (less than five minutes) collects high-resolution spectral data over the IR region. With calibrations using X-ray Diffraction and Total Organic Carbon (TOC) data, percentages of mineral groups, including carbonates, quartz, feldspars, and clays, as well as organics, respectively, can be estimated.
