Industrial Drone Inspections make difficult to access areas, accessible.
With ALS, our Drone Inspections will provide you with a comprehensive understanding of your asset's condition - quickly, affordably and safely. Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA), Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV), or as they are most commonly known, drones are a market-leading inspection solution that bring a host of cost benefits without compromising safety.
Our Fleet
ALS has an extensive fleet of drones which cover a diverse inspection capability for both internal and external inspections.
For internal inspections, our pilots use the Flyability Elios which features 4k camera, 10k lumen lighting and an unobstructed view from the cage. For external inspections, our pilots primarily use DJI Matrice 210 or Matrice 600 drones which are robust units capable of carrying different payloads, such as Thermography cameras and laser scanners.
Our Pilots
ALS have multiskilled pilots who are each certified to the relevant local laws and regulations required to fly drones commercially. Every pilot receives extensive in-house training and is broadly experienced across a range of asset, inspections and industries.
Our Approach
Our internal and external drone services push boundaries, guiding clients with innovative solutions and high-quality inspections.
Our drone inspection team are highly experienced, with each pilot experts at inspecting tanks, boilers, bins, hoppers and beyond. The benefit of industrial drone inspection with ALS surrounds our ability to significantly reduce costs, as the need for expensive scaffolding and staging is eliminated.
ALS know inspection requirements are different across every industry, so if required, we can provide a specialised inspector or engineer to attend and report on the inspection.
FAQ
Drone inspections bring ample inspection benefits. Among the most compelling are the efficiency, safety and comprehensive insight drone inspections afford.
Financially, the need for expensive scaffolding and staging is eliminated. Safety-wise, high risk activities, such as working at heights and within confined spaces, are also eliminated with drone inspections.
The application of drone technology is constantly pushing new boundaries. Applications where ALS has significant experience include:
- Tank inspections
- Bin and hopper inspections
- Stack inspections, even while online
- Burner inspections
- Boiler inspections
- Underground inspections of tunnels and pipe networks
- Refractory inspections
- Gas duct inspections
Drones have diverse detection capability, and concerns such as those listed below are all detectable through drone inspections.
- Corrosion
- Cracking
- Wear
- Distortion
- Missing items such as bolts
- Hot areas (Thermography)
Internal Drone Inspections
Internal drone inspections utilise lightweight impact tolerant drones with specialist lightweight cages designed to protect the camera and airframe. These cages allow the drones to be flown in tight spaces without sustaining damage. Our internal inspection services include Enclosed Beyond Visual Line of Sight (E-BVLOS) and Extended Visual Line of Sight Class 1 (EVLOS Cl1).
With the ability to enter confined spaces, internal drone inspections reduce or eliminate the need for personnel to also enter these confined spaces. These drones are ideal for the visual inspection of:
- Interior of tanks
- Pressure vessels
- Ducting
- Large bore piping
- Other GPS-denied environments
External Drone Inspections
External drone inspections utilise robust airframes capable of a flight time in excess of 24 minutes, along with ability to adapt to wind conditions whilst carrying and stabilising a suitable inspection payload. These types of external drones are used for inspecting difficult to access areas such as:
- Large structures
- Stacks
- External tank inspections
- Areas at height
- Jetties
- Flare stacks
