20 NOV 2025 ALS

Brazil’s Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Supply (MAPA) recently published six new notices in the Official Gazette of the Union (DOU), establishing strict guidelines for document verification and quality control of existing registrations of pesticides containing the following active ingredients:

    Atrazine | Chlorfenapyr | Acephate | Glufosinate | Methomyl | Epoxiconazole

Why is this update important?

MAPA’s goal is to ensure greater rigor in regulatory compliance and the quality of products available on the market, in line with the requirements of Law No. 14,785/2023.

Key points of the notices
  • Scope: Companies affected are those listed in MAPA Annex 1 that hold registrations for technical and formulated products based on the mentioned active ingredients.
  • The notices are specific to listed companies and products, with no clear reference to new registrations after publication.
Phases and deadlines
  • Phase 1 – Document Submission (90 days):
    • Registration certificates (formulated and technical products).
    • Information on production, commercialization and/or importation from the last two years.
    • For imported products: registration in the country of origin, quality control and authorized importers.
  • Phase 2 – Submission of Analytical Standard (180 days):
    • Analytical standard of the active ingredient (individual or in a “pool” of companies).
    • Representative samples of technical and formulated products.
    • Delivery to LFDA-SP (Campinas/SP), with protocol and electronic petitioning in SEI-MAPA.

Consequences of Non-Compliance
  • Cancellation of product registration.
  • Inclusion of the company in the red channel for imports.

Official Publications
  • Notice No. 2 (Glufosinate), No. 3 (Atrazine), No. 4 (Chlorfenapyr), No. 5 (Glufosinate), No. 6 (Methomyl), and No. 7 (Epoxiconazole) (November/2025) – available in the DOU
  • Previous related publication: ACT No. 24/2025 – The new era of quality in pesticides.

Attention: Meeting these deadlines and requirements is essential to maintain registration compliance and avoid sanctions.
