Ambient Air Quality Monitoring

Ambient air quality monitoring involves the assessment of air pollutant concentrations in outdoor environments to evaluate potential impacts on the environment and public health. Monitoring provides quantitative data for tracking air quality trends, assessing pollutant dispersion from emission sources, and supporting compliance with environmental regulations.

ALS provides comprehensive ambient air monitoring services, including field sampling and laboratory analysis of air pollutants, as well as relevant meteorological and environmental parameters. Our services support environmental assessments in community areas, industrial zones, development projects, and locations requiring ongoing environmental surveillance.

Scope of Ambient Air Monitoring Services Includes:

  • Particulate matter (PM) measurement, including
    • PM2.5
    • PM10
    • Total Suspended Particulates (TSP)
  • Criteria air pollutants, including:
    • Sulfur Dioxide (SO₂)
    • Nitrogen Dioxide (NO₂)
    • Carbon Monoxide (CO)
    • Ozone (O₃)
  • Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs)
  • Semi-Volatile Organic Compounds (SVOCs)
  • Atmospheric hydrocarbons
  • Meteorological parameters, including wind speed and wind direction
  • Other environmental parameters, such as:
    • General environmental noise levels
    • Environmental noise monitoring
    • Vibration monitoring

Testing and analysis are conducted in accordance with internationally recognised standards, including relevant US EPA methods and ISO standards for outdoor air quality monitoring. This ensures that monitoring data are accurate, reliable, and suitable for environmental impact assessment (EIA), regulatory reporting, and environmental compliance management.
