Routine Core Analysis provides a direct measurement of the formation and provide critical information about the Reservoir.
Fluid extraction
As part of a standard Routine Core Analysis program, ALS carries out Dean-Stark analysis following the procedures described in API Recommended Practices 40. The Dean-Stark extraction process is often followed by additional solvent cleaning to remove pore filling salts, hydrocarbons.
Grain density and porosity
ALS provide core gas permeability services whether at the wellsite directly on whole or slabbed core or at the laboratory on plug samples. We also conduct routine petrophysical analyses such as bulk density, grain density and porosity in our Laboratory facilities.
Particle size distribution
A combination of sieve and LPSA analysis is recommended to generate an accurate particle size distribution. For samples comprised of coarse-grained particles, sieve analysis is recommended. For samples with very fine particles, LPSA is recommended.
Permeability
Permeability to gas can be measured in a variety of ways, the expected permeability range of your samples will determine which method is best suited to your needs.
Sample preparation and preservation
ALS Reservoir Laboratories offer a comprehensive range of services in sampling and sample preparation at the wellsite or the laboratory. Ensuring the representability and the quality of the samples is our top priority.
