Contamination Monitoring Services

Hydrocarbon residues are found in the environment for a range of reasons – from historical activities like gas works and sites where fuel tanks were stored, to ongoing monitoring of current activities that may see fuels and oils moving into the environment.

Using modern Gas Chromatography equipment, ALS has applied a lot of thought and innovation to the sample collection and testing process to simplify things for the sampler.

Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TPH) – for short chain hydrocarbons ALS offers the internal standard practice of C6-C9 testing. With C10-C14 and C15-C36 also tested, there is capacity to analyse soil and water for the full range of C6-C36 TPH compounds.

Benzene, Toluene, Ethylene, Xylene (BTEX) –the 5 compound BTEX suite for soil and water includes the 2 xylene species m&p-Xylene and o-Xylene.

Partially Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAH) – our 18 compound suite includes Naphthalene, 2-Methylnaphthalene, 1-Methylnaphthalene, Acenaphthylene, Acenaphthene, Fluorene, Phenanthrene, Anthracene, Fluoranthene, Pyrene, Benz(a)anthracene, Chrysene, Benzo(b)fluoranthene, Benzo(k)fluoranthene, Benzo(a)pyrene, Indeno(1,2,3-cd)pyrene, Dibenz(a,h)anthracene, and Benzo(g,h,i)perylene. Also included are the Benzo(a)pyrene TEQs (Toxic Equivalence…
