Working with ALS to Reduce the Cost of Your R&D

From 1 April 2019 a new ‘Research and Development Tax Incentive’ scheme has come into effect in New Zealand. ALS Food & Environmental NZ is an Approved Research Provider under this scheme. This means that you may be able to claim a 15% credit from the IRD for services we provide to you if they are part of R&D projects you are undertaking.

An overview of the R&D Tax Incentive Scheme is available on this website: MBIE Research and Development Tax Incentive

Most NZ Businesses May Be Eligible For The Tax Credits

There are some specific criteria that need to be met for you to qualify for the credit. It’s important that you talk with us about your project in advance, so we can do our best to help make sure that the investment you make with us will be eligible for the scheme. The following link will take you to an IRD web page detailing who is eligible to apply for the tax credits.

Ask Your Accountant Or Tax Adviser For Help

As the scheme is a tax credit, you should talk with your accountant or tax adviser about how best to apply for it.

There is a lot of good information on the IRD website: Research and Development Tax Incentive guidance
